I tell nearly everyone that I know that I’m actually much less cynical about finding love now that I’m a wedding photographer. Week after week I meet people whose lives flow along this strange and random trajectory that just so happens to intersect with the perfect person who is on their crazy journey too. It’s a bit like that cheesy Gwyneth Paltrow movie ‘Sliding Doors’, you change one thing and the whole story is different. The wonderful Lindsay and Steve are two people from different sides of the planet who met by chance and decided their stories needed to be told together from that day forward – and I’m happy they decided to do that. We were met in the foyer of our Toronto hotel by the two of them with warm embraces and we had in our rooms beautiful welcome packages filled with Canadian treats. It’s this kindness and thoughtfulness that binds them together.
But back to it – the stories of these lives intersecting are never told individually, they include the tales of families and friends too. Many lives and paths intersect and in this case, Steve, his friends and family came from Melbourne, Australia while Lindsay’s came from a small town a few hours away from where the wedding was in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. Different lifestyles, cultures and personalities joined together to create a beautiful international celebration that defied the old limits that the world and geography set for them. The rest of us simply get to share in it and feel like anything is possible and that the warm embrace of love is everywhere.
