My life often appears to be filled with things that I seem to be able to grasp pretty easily. I went to school, did well, went to University and was fortunate to get PhD in Medical Radiation Physics, even though I seemed to spend more time playing slime volleyball than maybe I should have. I played guitar in a band for 5 years. I played soccer and was even fortunate enough to be paid a little to do it. I can even cook, clean and be domestic (although according to some people I could improve my dusting skills). I can hack together solutions to pretty much anything using a roll of gaffer tape and hair product. I’ve been very fortunate to achieve a lot of what I set my mind to, and because of this I am often referred to as what some people call a bit of a high ‘high achiever’. I don’t *feel* particularly special though. But there is one thing that I believe I can do better than most people, uniquely in my own way (one thing that slime volleyball won’t distract me from!); that thing is to take photographs. Taking photographs is something that’s instinctive to me, it feels like home. I am at my best when I’m photographing people, I’m one of those guys who feels like he couldn’t shoot a sunrise or a beautiful lake to save my life. But put in a carbon based organism with two eyes, a nose and a mouth (standing upright I’d say) and I’m in my prime.
I don’t take photographs that you’ll hide away in an album somewhere, I want you to print these out giant size and hang them up on your walls. It’s a little pretentious but I like to think of them as works of art; little happy pieces of art that make you feel giddy whenever you see them! I think a nice photograph can make any wall look amazing, even if you just print them out at 6×4 inches and stick them up randomly. I want to make your home/work/office/room/cubby a fun place that makes you feel content and happy.
My main love in photographic terms these days is weddings but I don’t restrict myself to just that. If you’re in a band, hit me up, I love working with you, especially considering my past career as a (failed) musician. If you want some awesomely complex Photoshop montage of something physically impossible, I want to be involved! Remember, I have a degree in Physics so I know how to mess with the laws of space-time!
I’m happy to travel anywhere in the world (except perhaps Baghdad or Kabul for the next few years, much to the disappointment of my humanitarian sector employed partner) so don’t feel like distance is an issue. If there is a desire, there is a way.
