A little earlier in 2013, my friends over at the wonderful magazine Hello May ran a little competition for a couple in each state to win their wedding photographer. Kristen and I received so many great applications from couples highlighting why they wanted us to photograph for them. We also saw a whole bunch of really creative and inspired Pinterest boards featuring the ideas and passions that people had for their wedding days and we could see that all of these couples had gone to great effort to enter. I’m the kind of person that hates disappointing others so to say it was an extremely difficult decision for us to pick the winner is very much an understatement. But there was one application that we read and instantly felt a connection to.
We fell in love, set up house, dug a garden and adopted cats. He proposed with a song he’d written in summer.
In January he collapsed. Life became ICU and neurosurgeons. He’d had a brain hemmorhage, and over the months we nearly lost him. Between surgeries I crawled into his bed and cuddled him while we cried.
Amazingly, he came home and learned to walk again. We’re getting married in Kyneton beside people we love. To have Lucky capture our day would be amazing- otherwise it’s Dad with a digital! Against all odds, it will be the best day ever.
Warrick and Claire fought hard and they battled for their lives and their relationship. And love triumphed all, they were married under the cyprus tree in the botanical gardens in Kyneton surrounded by the people that they cared for most in the world. And it was the best day ever.
