I never thought I’d see the day but my younger sister Ru got married on the weekend (yes, it’s my mean older brother voice saying that). As much as I tease her and have taunted her in my childhood, it was a wonderful day for Ru and our family with the entire extended family (except one aunt/uncle) coming from Sri Lanka and the UK. This is the first time we’ve had so many members of the family in one place at one time and that feeling of protection and comfort was something that I rarely get to experience. It’s a stark change from the mum/dad/sister I’ve lived with in Australia for most of my life.
As I had a role as a general fixer and do-er pre-wedding as well as MC during the reception, I only had about 30 minutes with them at the beautiful Sylvan Glen on Saturday afternoon.
